5 Skincare Mistakes that Damage Your Skin (Part 1 of 2)

Skincare mistakes to avoid for amazing skin

Even when using top of the line skincare products and following the best diet, if you don’t watch for what we call skincare “pitfalls”, your skin will never improve! So what to do? Learn what mistakes not to make in order to reach your skincare goals faster, while avoiding further skin damage. 

We will go over the first 5 mistakes here:

#1 Over-Exfoliating

More is not always better. Do not over-exfoliate your skin. Your skin will not improve. Each time you exfoliate, you buff away the top layer of your skin. Once the top layer has been removed, your skin becomes exposed, like a celebrity’s personal life, to harsh elements – like toxins, and sun damage.

#2 Sleeping With Make-up

Sleeping with make-up clogs pores and oil glands. Once clogged, pores will appear larger. And once collagen levels decline, the pores will not return to their original small size as easily. What’s more, this leads to inflammation – creating a lack of oxygen reaching your skin.

#3 Proper Cleansing

Are you one of the ones that removes your make-up every night? If so, are you also properly and completely removing the make-up? Find a product that contains salicylic acid in order to help clear your pores and provides antioxidants for protection.

#4 Picking & Poking At Your Face

Don’t bite your fingernails! Hasn’t your mother ever told you that? You should also avoid picking and poking at your face. The more you do, the more likely you are to irritate and damage your skin. The result: scars, wrinkles and red rashes. Not pretty.

#5 Sleeping on Un-Clean Pillowcases

Like everything else, pillowcases also get dirty and need to be washed. Dirt and grime build-up from your room, blankets, or simply from your own scalp’s oil, or conditioner from your hair. This can lead to clogged pores, as you roll around, pressing against the dirt and grime unknowingly as you’re far away in dreamland. So aim to change your pillowcase every couple of weeks.
